Almost all of us have experienced some form of trauma either directly or indirectly. Trauma is a fact of life. The good news is that we can heal trauma. Maybe you have tried therapy before and it hasn't seemed to work. You get some relief, but you don't get resolution. You continue to feel stuck or disconnected from life or to engage in the same problem behaviors and patterns. You hope your life can get better at the same time feel hopeless. This is often what unresolved trauma looks like. With EMDR and increased Somatic focus, we can move through and transform trauma. One of the conditions required is a safe, non-judgmental space, and this is where we start. Pacing the work is essential. Effective trauma work cannot take place if you are feeling overwhelmed or unsafe. By bringing in somatic awareness as we reprocess stressful life events, we are better able to keep our nervous system feeling safe. Your story is important, and trauma resides in the body. We will learn to listen to the unspoken story of your nervous system, tapping into our innate ability to heal and grow. DBT groups are helpful for those needing to increase skills and awareness before beginning trauma work. Psychotherapist Certified EMDR Clinician
